After completing a long swim, I feel a great sense of accomplishment and am filled with gratitude for those around me. It’s 3 nights and 4 days, during which children grow up.

September

teaching practice

Students from Tokyo Gakugei University will conduct teaching training for 3 to 4 weeks. In addition to being young, interacting with teachers who are full of enthusiasm will be a wonderful experience for both the children and the practical teachers.

October

Sports day

Our school’s sports day is a three-color competition: yellow, red, and blue. The waiting areas for children are also divided by life group, and students from grades 1 to 6 work together to support the students.
All the children work hard, including foot races where they run as fast as they can, cute dances, pole fights by older girls, horseback competitions between older boys, grade competitions, and the Oizumi Relay. In particular, the group gymnastics for 6th graders is one of the highlights of our school.

November

Harvest festival School opening commemoration ”KIKU-MATSURI”

Kikunoko soup

This is a party to celebrate the opening of the school.
The first part is in the gymnasium, where we look back on the history of the school.
The second part was making Kikunoko soup and appreciating chrysanthemums. Each group will cook the vegetables they have grown since spring. After eating, we admire each other’s chrysanthemums. At the end, the children will release a paper balloon with their dream written on it into the sky.

Autumn school field trip

All the school children will hike the mountains of Hanno in their living groups. We will walk along a pre-determined course while looking at the map. When a younger student shows signs of being tired, an upperclassman helps them walk by helping them carry their bags. This is a field trip where you can see upperclassmen caring for lowerclassmen and interacting with students from different grades.

December

KIKUNOKO exhibition

Every December, the children’s works, which they have worked on throughout the year in arts and crafts and club activities, are displayed in the gymnasium for everyone to enjoy. Before the Kikunoko Exhibition, there is a “Kikunoko Exhibition Gathering” where each group creates one piece of work. We will create wonderful works by combining the leader’s thoughts and the ideas of the group’s friends.

February

farewell concert

operetta

Our school’s concert is not just a concert. The word “Owakare” has a great meaning.
The 1st to 5th graders express their gratitude and congratulations to the 6th graders through music. The 6th grade student will perform an original operetta that she wrote with a message for her younger students.
For the operetta, sixth graders create everything by themselves, from the idea to the script, the music, the props, the performance of the music, and the lighting. The younger students look up to the 6th graders who create wonderful operettas, and Oizumi’s tradition continues to be passed on.
In addition, the theme song for that year will be broadcast after school starting the following year.

March

Graduation ceremony/Graduation parade

graduation ceremony
graduation parade

All children at the school will attend the graduation ceremony. The 6th grade students express their memories from the time they entered the school until now through words and a “graduation song” to convey their feelings of gratitude to their parents, teachers, and current students.
At the graduation parade after the ceremony, the entire school congratulates the sixth graders on their start by throwing confetti while the fifth graders play memorable songs. It was a moving graduation ceremony filled with tears.
