Educational philosophy

  1. Independence
  2. Harmony
  3. World peace

Our school opened in 1938 (Showa 13), became a UNESCO Associated School in 1966 (Showa 41), and in 1969 (Showa 44) established a special class for children returning from overseas (Yuri-gumi), the first of its kind in a national or public elementary school. did. As an elementary school that is characterized by international education, we aim to become a PYP authorized school, which is the elementary education version of the International Baccalaureate (IB), just like the neighboring International Secondary School, and aim to be a PYP certified school, which is the elementary education version of the International Baccalaureate (IB). For about seven years, I have been searching for ways to explore ways for elementary school students to learn. The efforts of the faculty, staff, students, and parents have borne fruit, and on August 29, 2022, the school officially became an IB World School (PYP authorized school). This is the first national elementary school and the second national public elementary school. In addition, International Secondary Education School is an MYP and DP certified school, making it the only school in Ichijo that has all of the PYP, MYP, and DP certifications. Another major feature that supports the foundation of our school’s education is the abundance of school events and inter-grade group activities based on the idea of “nurturing children through events.” While maintaining these characteristics, our faculty and staff continue to search every day for further growth in the future. Thank you for your understanding and support.
